DIY Deodorant Fast and easy!

DIY Deodorant Fast and easy!

DIY Deodorant is so much easier then you think!

I’ve seen a few posts floating around about a diy deodorant recipe, and I have been interested in trying it out for awhile now. I’m not overly picky with mine, I usually just buy whatever is the cheapest at walmart. I go through deodorant like crazy, because while I was pregnant I could smell sweat from a mile away, and now I’m just overly paranoid. Constantly secretly sniffing my armpits… Well, I hope it’s secretly.

When I finally decided to leap into making my own, it was when I ran and was too lazy to run to the store. DIY’s are great when they save you money, time and get you what you want. Which is why so many people don’t delve into the DIY world, it’s hard when you can’t find what you want, or it’s way too hard to make.

Thank goodness, this was so easy to make. I made extra and stuck it in a container so that I have back up for my diaper bag, stroller… car. Listen, I like smelling nice and I sweat a lot, don’t judge me.

It saves money and your skin

The biggest ingredient in this DIY deodorant is coconut oil, which you can buy completely organic. Along with making the other ingredients organic. this deodorant is definitely so much better for your skin then what you can get from the store with so many chemicals in them.

Just be careful, because coconut oil can clog pores, especially depending on how your skin interacts with coconut oil. I don’t have any problems with it but just be aware that it’s a possibility, so make sure all these ingredients work for you, and your skin.

Because the main ingredient is coconut oil, make sure you keep it somewhere a bit cooler so you don’t end up with it all melted over everything. I keep mine in my fridge in the summer time because I like the jolt of coolness under my arms, it’s a great way to cool down.

How to make this DIY Deodorant

Ingredients:

  1. Coconut oil 1/2 cup
  2. Baking soda 1/4 cup
  3. Corn starch 1/4 cup
  4. Your favorite essential oils (10 drops)

Gather all of your ingredients, and melt the coconut oil in the microwave. Then mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, pour into your container and BOOM! DONE!

ta da! DIY DEODORANT

I swear, it’s literally that easy. Let your deodorant cool and solidify, stick it in the fridge if you want to hurry the process, but that’s it! I don’t know if you have noticed yet, but I adore lavender and making everything smell like lavender. I’m not entirely sure why, but it is just one of my favorite scents, along with sandalwood and other woody scents.

I’m growing some lavender this year in my garden so I can have the fresh scent wafting about, as well as adding real lavender to everything because that’s just the type of person I am.
